Beautiful Cozy Cottage in the Rainforest

The Volcano artist's cottage was a perfect place for my wife and I to stay for our Volcano adventures! The cabin is cool, built 100+ years ago, tucked away in a quiet corner of the beautiful garden property. It is cozy, best for a couple, I wouldn't bring your kid(s) here. I couldn't believe how well appointed it is, Ira has truly thought of everything. Kitchen is equiped with a small gas stove, mini fridge, microwave, utensils and pans plus stuff like canola spray and spices to do basic cooking, also a small gas grill outside. I wouldn't try to cook a big fancy meal but we got basic dinners like spaghetti and tacos done no problems. There's lots of books, including local guide books and brochures. There's a tea kettle and a big box of assorted teas. Robes, flashlight, deck of cards, nice coffee... Really everything you could ever need and amazingly somehow he has packed all this stuff into this little cabin without it feeling cluttered. Everything was very very clean when we arrived. The bathroom is really cool, big, open style. Hot tub on the back deck is awesome! The cottage sits on a gorgeous garden property that has taken many years to carefully craft. Beautiful flowers and plants abound! Lots of space to peacefully stroll, lots of neat, quiet spots to relax. The trail through the secret garden is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The owner/host Ira is absolutely wonderful! He is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was very welcoming and warm and happy to have us on his property and show us around. He worked hard to get an issue with the hot tub resolved. Best rental host I've ever had to be honest. The cottage sits behind a house that has been turned into an art gallery and vegetarian cafe. We had lunch at the cafe, even though neither my wife or I are vegetarian, we thoroughly enjoyed the food! Definitely recommend! Overall, this is a fabulous, romantic little spot today is truly one of a kind, perfect for a couple who wants a nice relaxing place to rest in-between Volcano adventures. PS. I highly recommend the tour of Kazumura Cave lava tube just 15 min down the road, super cool!

"The cottage, with spacious bathroom addition, had everything we needed-even breakfast supplies. We loved having the garden all to ourselves in the evenings. We enjoyed exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and then coming home to soak in the hot tub under the big tree and the stars."
